We paid a visit to one of our favorite spots – Stellafane. For those of you unfamiliar, Stellafane is a National Historic Landmark on Breezy Hill in Springfield, Vermont. It is considered by many to be the birthplace of amateur telescope making. Here is the view from Breezy Hill this weekend.
At the top of the hill is the clubhouse of the Springfield Telescope Makers, founded in 1923 by Russell Porter. Inside the clubhouse, we lit a fire and enjoyed talking with club members.
It was a cloudy weekend, but the Porter Turret, a homemade reflecting telescope was still beautiful with Mount Ascutney in the background.
